The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted in 2015 by all member states of the United Nations. They comprise a set of aspirations, together with globally agreed upon targets, to enable dignity for all whilst living within environmental limits.

SDG Network Scotland
SDG Network Scotland is an open, volunteer-led coalition dedicated to facilitating collaborative action on the SDGs in Scotland. We are an independent coalition, guided by a steering group with an active membership including charities, universities, schools, public sector bodies, and businesses. We urge you to join us and be part of securing the change we need. Our membership is free and completely open. All you need to do is share our vision and mission!
Our vision is for Scotland to be a world leader in sustainable development. Our mission is to make Scotland a more sustainable nation by facilitating collaborative action towards the SDGs.
As a group, we believe that our network can play a vital role in forging a sustainable future, both locally and globally. We invite you to join our forum and contribute to the conversation. Your ideas, insights and experiences can make a real difference to how we work together to help achieve the SDGs. With only 5 years to go to meet the SDG goals, urgent action is needed. Help share lessons learnt and shape future policy options too.

Stepping up to the SDGs: Mapping global SDG progress by SIDA members
As we approach the 2030 target for implementing the SDGs, our 2023 report ‘Stepping up to the SDGs’ reassesses how SIDA members are implementing the SDG Agenda. It reveals that our members contribute to all 17 SDGs in over 170 countries. By mapping the contributions of our members, we hope to raise awareness of the 2030 SDG Agenda and show how the SDGs are shaping global efforts towards sustainable development.
“As the only inclusive membership body for all global sustainable development actors in Scotland, it is essential for us, our members, and our supporters to have a complete understanding of our role in achieving the SDGs.”
Frances Guy, Chief Executive, Scotland’s International Development Alliance
SIDA will continue to support and champion its members contributions to the SDGs, with this report
highlighting just some elements of our wider memberships’ collective endeavour. See below the full

Actions on the UN Sustainable Development Goals in Scotland’s grassroots communities
In order to achieve them, we believe the SDGs need to be understood and owned by everyone across society. During the summer of 2024, we carried out a survey of the action being taken and the levels of awareness of the SDGs across Scotland’s grassroots communities. Download the report to read the results of the survey below.
SDG roadshow
Our 2024 roadshow brought together researchers and practitioners for a series of SDG themed events at universities across Scotland.
