The Global Citizenship Community is a community of practice co-hosted by SIDA and IDEAS. It’s aim is to bring together organisations and individuals across sectors and communities in Scotland to advance global citizenship within Scottish society.
IDEAS defines global citizenship as: ‘a sense of belonging to a larger global community, a recognition that every person is a citizen of the world and that we all have responsibilities to each other and to our planet. Global citizenship involves understanding and appreciating diverse cultures, perspectives, and ways of life, as well as recognizing and addressing global challenges such as climate change, poverty, inequality and armed conflict. A global citizen strives to be informed and engaged in both local and global issues, collaborating with others to promote a kinder, fairer and more sustainable world for all.’
If you are already doing work to promote this kind of understanding and action in Scotland either in your community, with the public or internally within your business or organisation, or if you are just interested to learn more about how to get involved, please join our community.
We meet regularly and share knowledge, experience and inspiration on how to build a fairer Scotland and a fairer world. There is no cost to join and it is open to non-SIDA members.
Please fill out the form below to apply to register and we will be in touch.
