The Scottish Government has published the Programme for Government 2023 – 2024
Scotland’s International Development Alliance welcomes the Scottish Government’s commitment to remain a global leader in equality, inclusion and human rights and to show the leadership required to ensure Scotland responds to the climate and nature crises. We welcome also the First Minister’s request to the Cabinet Secretary for External Affairs to champion a feminist approach to development but urge him to reiterate previous commitments to a feminist approach to global affairs more broadly.
We also continue to encourage the Government to clarify their commitment to a wellbeing and sustainable development Bill, and the previously committed to Future Generations’ Commissioner. Our recommendations are available in this report, and we look forward to hearing more about plans for a consultation on the Bill which was a commitment in the 2021-22 Programme for Government.
Lastly, we support Stop Climate Chaos Scotland’s call for more concrete action to tackle the climate crisis.
