The Alliance Community is an online forum for members to discuss, share and connect with other members. At the end of 2019 we reached the milestone of over 100 member organisations signed up to the online space!

This month on the Alliance Community activity includes:

  • Recent sign-ups from members including: Friends of Eyethu Careers Point, Comfort InternationalCBM and Cairdeas International Palliative Care Trust. You can view the introductions thread to learn more about the new users who have recently signed up and their favourite development fuzzwords! Have you introduced yourself to the network yet?

  • A ‘Good News’ thread designed for members to share their success stories with the wider network. Do you have a good news story to share?

  • Updates from the Alliance’s Policy Committee including: a briefing on the SDGs in Scotland co-ordinated ahead of the debate held in Parliament on the 16 January and signposting the Environmental Impact Index as a way to measure bilateral spillover effects

  • Updates from the Funding Working Group including discussion of Swiss Foundations who fund Scotland based organisations and swapping your experiences of Gift Aid

  • Updates from the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Working Group, including discussion of the newly released OECD DAC evaluation criterion for policy coherence and signposting a free MEAL course which is available online through Kaya

  • Discussion threads for attendees at recent training workshops including the Fundamentals of Fundraising training in Aberdeen and the online training with GlobalGiving about crowdfunding

  • A request to fill out a survey about the climate emergency

Open partnership and collaboration requests include:

  • A request by members within the policy committee to work together on 2021 manifesto related campaign work. Are you planning a campaign and want to work with the network?

  • A partnership request for an organisation working in South Africa interested in early childhood development.

  • A partnership request for an organisation working in Uganda around apprenticeships for women
