The COVID-19 crisis has helped us realise the importance of joining forces for a common goal and highlighted another massive challenge on today’s political agenda: the climate crisis. Many people worldwide are now campaigning for a ‘green and just recovery’ and to ‘build back better’ after COVID-19. We support these calls.
There is no doubt that the Scottish Government can lead a green and just recovery here in Scotland, but it must be done with international solidarity at its heart. That’s where Policy Coherence for Sustainable Development (PCSD) comes in – our climate action must go beyond our own borders, and we must ensure our approach to the climate crisis is systematic.
