Themes: Modern slavery, human trafficking, supply chains, COVID-19
Speaker: Susan Banister, Head of Business Development, Slave-Free Alliance
Agenda:
- To understand what modern slavery is, who it affects and why it is important to prevent it
- To understand how organisations can prevent modern slavery and protect those who are most vulnerable
- To understand the relationship between modern slavery and COVID-19
On the UN international day Against Trafficking in Persons we hosted a digital round table about modern slavery with the Slave-Free Alliance. The Slave-Free Alliance is a social enterprise and membership initiative launched by anti-slavery charity Hope for Justice. Slave-Free Alliance offers a wide range of services and access to its experts, including training, gap analysis, due diligence, risk management resources, and help with investigations, crisis response, remediation and Slavery and Human Trafficking Statements (required for large businesses under the UK’s Modern Slavery Act 2015, but having one is considered good practice for organisations of all sizes).
Below you will find the slides from the session, as well as a recording of the discussion. Members who attended the session can continue the conversation on the Alliance Community’s dedicated thread for the event.
