Sense Scotland is a national voluntary organisation working with people who have communication support needs because of sensory impairment including deafblindness, learning and physical disablities and autism. Through our links with Sense International, Deafblind International and the European Deafblind Network we have developed links with countries such as Norway, Sweden, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Slovakia and India and most recently (2009) Malawi. Sense Scotland works in partnership with Sense International and is a member of Deafblind International and the European Deafblind Network. These umbrella organisations bring deafblind agencies together from across Europe.Croatia, Brazil and Columbia to the UK to visit projects, receive training and go on specialist seminars. Sense Scotland has 20 years experience of working with children and adults with sensory impairment and other disabilities. We have become experts in the field of communication and support for people with complex disabilities and support needs and in developing services to meet their needs. We are becoming known as a leader in the field of arts provision for people with complex disabilities. We are keen to share expertise, ideas and knowledge with staff, families and service users in other countries. This includes developing our own practice as well as assisting developing projects in other countries. We would like to form partnerships with other organisations, which have similar interests particularly in areas such as arts exchanges for families and service users, family forums and practice development involving staff exchanges/placements.
