Oxfam in Scotland works with others to overcome poverty and suffering worldwide. Oxfam works in over 70 countries.What we do:We save lives during emergencies by responding rapidly to humanitarian crises, providing aid, support and protectionWe empower people to build sustainable livelihoods through longer term development programmesWe campaign to end poverty by tackling its underlying causesHow we do it:Our Campaigns and Policy team works to raise awareness of international development issues and influence decision makers through a strong media profile; through advocacy with parliamentarians; and through activities with volunteers and community groups.Our Development Education team supports teachers and policy makers to integrate global citizenship within the school curriculum.Our UK Poverty Programme works with local partners to overcome poverty in Scotland.Our Fundraising team secures resources to fund our programme work in Scotland and overseas, as do our Trading team, which manages over 50 shops all over Scotland.
