Linda Norgrove worked on various Aid and Development projects in Peru and Afghanistan. LNF was set up in the aftermath of her kidnapping and subsequent death during a failed US rescue attempt in 2010. We aim to to continue the work she was committed to and in the country she loved, Afghanistan.
Run by volunteers and based on the Isle of Lewis, costs are kept to an absolute minimum so that donors funds get directly to individuals in Afghanistan.
We fund a wide variety of very small projects, typically £5,000, together with an expanding programme of providing fee scholarships to enable young women to studying medicine (36) and economics/law and similar (41).
Our funds come from, mostly individual, donors in response to our biannual newsletters.
