Scotland National Launch of UNESCO’s 2023 Global Education Monitoring Report on Education and Technology.

Join the Moray House CEID Community for the Scotland National Launch of UNESCO’s 2023 Global Education Monitoring Report ‘Technology in Education: A Tool on Whose Terms?‘ Hosted by the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh and in collaboration with the University of Glasgow, UN House Scotland, and the Scottish Government, the event brings together government representatives, academics, students, and private sector representatives to discuss the recommendations of the 2023 GEM Report and the implications of its recommendations for Scotland. Register in the link below to secure a ticket for the in person event.

The event will include the launch of the 2023 GEM Report, response from the Scottish Government, and panel discussion on four key topics from the report: Mobile PhonesArtificial Intelligence, the Role of Government, and Teachers and Technology. Participants are invited to submit their questions for the panel upon registering. All questions submitted by the 31st of October will be considered.

  • Welcome by Dr Samantha Fawkner (Deputy Head of School Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh)
  • 2023 GEM Report Presentation by Dr Anna D’Addio (Sr Policy Analyst, GEM Report)
  • Scottish Government Response by Mr Ollie Bray (Strategic Director, Education Scotland)
  • Panel Discussion chaired by Dr Gari Donn (Executive Director, UN House Scotland). Dr D’Addio and Mr Bray will be joined on the panel by Dr Victor McNair (Digital Schools Award), Professor Simon McGrath (University of Glasgow), and Dr Ben Williamson (Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh)
  • Closing Remarks by Professor Sian Bayne (Director of Centre for Research in Digital Education, University of Edinburgh)
