It’s time to end the fossil fuel era and take away the power of the fossil fuel corporations. An international movement is building, calling for a global plan to phase out fossil fuels. Civil society organisations, parliamentarians, councils and cities around the world, the European parliament and the World Health Organisation have endorsed the call for an international treaty – that’s been dubbed the ‘Fossil Fuel Non-proliferation treaty’. The Pacific Island nations of Vanuatu, Tuvalu, Fiji and Tonga, who are facing the worst impacts of the climate crisis already, are leading the call.
Join us to find out more about this fossil fuel treaty and how we can campaign for the Scottish government to back our plan! Speakers include Tunaimati’a Jacob Netzler, Pacific campaigner for the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty initiative; Martha Myers (tbc) from Corporate Europe Observatory, talking about the power of the fossil fuel lobby; and Nathan Taft who is involved in the campaign to ensure California becomes the first subnational state to endorse the treaty.
