We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to our Spring Conference on Tuesday 10th March, at the COSLA Conference Centre and online.
In-person attendees will have a choice of workshops in the afternoon from 12:30pm-1:30pm. Online attendees will automatically join the workshop on participation, inclusion and localisation led by SCIAF.
A short summary of the workshops is below, and you can see the full agenda and details of our excellent speakers and facilitators here.
If you have any questions or need any further information, please drop us a line at admin@intdevalliance.scot
Workshop 1 (in person only): Transformation through locally led development
Localisation of programmes, funding and decision making is essential to our collective efforts to achieving the sustainable development goals. In this workshop, we will hear the lessons learnt from one organisation that proactively undertook a localisation and close out process and examine the key themes that helped ensure its success, including, decision making; governance; funding; forecasting; looking after your staff and stakeholders and protecting your legacy. Led by International Development Leader Sarah Hand.
Workshop 2 (in person and online): Meaningful participation, inclusion and localisation
Members of the SCIAF team will lead a workshop on meaningful participation, inclusion and localisation. The session will include presentations on Caritas Europa flagship report on localisation, practical experience of locally led humanitarian response with partners and an overview of meaningful inclusion in programmes. There will be time for group work and deeper discussions on partnership principles, meaningful participation and inclusion.
Workshop 3 (in person only): Mobilising for change: advocacy and accountability in a time of cuts and crises
Led by Gideon Rabinowitz, Director of Policy and Advocacy, and Paul Abernethy, Government Relations and Public Affairs Manager at Bond, this session will look at opportunities over the next 12-18 months for civil society to promote a genuine shift of power and global financial reform in the wake of aid cuts, conflict and climate shocks. With the UK Government set to host the G20 in 2027, this will be an important opportunity to discuss how the sector in Scotland can make its voice heard as key decisions are made in Westminster and beyond.
