Reinvigorating interest in the Sustainable Development Goals – within our communities and beyond
2030 was set as the target for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. As we approach the midpoint of the implementation of the 2030 agenda, the Alliance is looking to review the work we’ve done as the global sustainable development community, and generate interest across wider sectors in Scotland. We plan to use the opportunity to showcase the impactful work of our members in progressing the SDGs; increase support for the sector amongst decision-makers and funders; and share learnings to support the adoption of an SDG framework in other sectors.
Part of this work will take the form of a new report and accompanying social media campaign to highlight the work of our members. We will also be theming our annual conference around the SDGs to inspire each other and reach new audiences. For both of these activities we need the support of our members.
Here’s how you can get involved…
1. Tell us your stories
We’re looking for a handful of compelling stories from our members to show how they’re working towards the SDGs in different ways and different places. We’d like to be able to highlight the impact of your work on communities, sharing lived experiences, and bringing the SDGs to life. Our researcher, Chris, is looking for people to interview – both here and in the global south – so we can tell your stories. Interviews will be conducted over zoom and will last approx. an hour, and all participants will have the opportunity to approve their story before publication. If you can help please contact Chris at: Chris@intdevalliance.scot
2. Help us build a picture of the sector
3. Contribute to our annual conference
Our conference takes place at the end of September and aims to take inspiration from the work of the global sustainable development community and engage across sectors to renew the SDG agenda for Scotland and the planet. We’ll be organising some inspirational keynote speakers but are looking for your ideas for other sessions. Perhaps you have ideas for speakers for a panel session? Or suggestions for an agenda item that would inspire others. Perhaps you’ve seen an SDG star speaker that we need to know about. Your involvement can be as simple as recommending a speaker, or as in depth as helping us programme a whole session.
