This workshop will support participants to better understand the current movement towards decolonised and anti-racist MEL (as well as broader decolonising within the sector). It will share examples of organisations who have been on a decolonising journey and the actions and steps they have taken to reflect on and change their practice. The workshop will offer members an opportunity for knowledge sharing, particularly around approaches leading to more equitable and inclusive organisational practice.
Please note: Whilst these events are open to non-members, we do ask attendees to provide some additional information in order for us to approve their booking.
Objectives of Workshop:
- better understand historically colonial contexts of monitoring and evaluation
- discuss current approaches to M&E: what is problematic/needs to change, and what decolonialised methodologies exist to build on?
- share learnings from organisations of different sizes in the sector working to change their practices
- understand the wider implications of this and relevant discussions elsewhere in the sector: e.g. localisation of aid, community-led approaches to evaluation, donor flexibility etc.
- share learning, experience and ideas with peers
