The Learning Hub, an initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), is excited to invite you to a free Masterclass on Wednesday, 19 March 2025, designed specifically for non-profits and civil society organisations like yours.

In response to feedback from our recent survey, this session will focus on building the skills and confidence of those designing and facilitating virtual meetings, including online communities of practice.

By the end of this Masterclass, you will be equipped to:

-Design engaging and participatory virtual sessions

-Develop effective, varied, and realistic agendas for online meetings

-Apply a broad range of virtual facilitation techniques

How will the Learning Hub Masterclass work?

The Learning Hub Masterclass will be a blended learning experience. We’ll use resources from the Aga Khan Foundation’s Learning Hub to help prepare for the online session, ensuring a shared understanding of adult learning principles and virtual facilitation techniques.

Before attending the Learning Hub Masterclass, we kindly ask that you read this guide to virtual facilitation techniques and prepare any questions you may have about applying them in your own context.

For participants who are less familiar with facilitation, we recommend the following short, optional course—although it is valuable even for seasoned facilitators:

Facilitating Adult learning (2.5 hours and includes free CPD accreditation)

The Learning Hub Masterclass will be focused on the practical application of these techniques to your own professional context, with ample opportunities to share ideas, ask questions, and develop new skills that you can immediately implement in your virtual sessions.

Who will deliver the Masterclass?

Matt Reeves is the Global Lead for Civil Society at the Aga Khan Foundation. Matt has worked for over twenty years in international development and social change organisations, supporting the design, implementation and measurement of civil society organisational, network and systems strengthening initiatives in over twenty-five countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Prior to joining AKF, he worked as Global Director for Capacity Development at Pact. In his current role, Matt is responsible for the development, piloting and scale-up of a toolkit to support the implementation and measurement of the Aga Khan Foundation’s civil society strengthening portfolio. Matt is also a highly-skilled facilitator and has worked with organisations of all shapes and sizes!
