Education is a vital force in the fight for climate justice. With such an immense task in front of us, we might find ourselves wondering where to begin. That’s why the Third Generation Project are inviting educators, students/pupils, practitioners and policymakers to join us in exploring some of the key themes of educating for climate justice. The 3 online workshops in February, March, and April 2021 will feature a wide variety of fantastic speakers.

The first of these threee events will centre on Unlearning the narratives: centering anti-racist education in a climate justice curriculum. There remains a lack of recognition that the climate crisis is founded on racism, whether manifested in the colonialism that resulted in communities being stripped of their lands and resources, or in the present-day policies that see people of colour marginalised in climate change narratives or overlooked in climate change policymaking. In climate education, not only do the voices and narratives of frontline communities need to be foregrounded, but the racism that has created these inequalities needs to be unpacked. In this event participants will hear from a range of speakers and be invited to participate in online activities and dialogues around these themes.

This event will run on Saturday, 20 February 2021 at 10:00 – 16:00 GMT. Register on Eventbrite now – spaces limited!
