An update on Scottish Government funding and SIDA members’ support for people in Sudan experiencing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
Hidden behind the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the fragile ceasefire in Gaza, is the world’s worst humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
An estimated 25 million people are acutely short of food as the civil war continues after nearly two years. Famine has been confirmed in some areas with disease outbreaks and worsening climate related weather making life even more difficult for the most vulnerable people – women, children, the elderly and disabled.
Scottish based charities, funded by the Scottish Government, have been in the region since the escalation of violence in 2023, trying to do what they can to help both in Sudan itself and the neighbouring countries of Chad, Ethiopia and South Sudan.
You are invited to hear the latest on the crisis at a special webinar hosted by SIDA on Thursday 6th March 2025, 1:00pm-2:00pm, when representative of the Scottish agencies and their partners will bring us the latest on the conflict, its impacts and their continuing efforts to help.
We will hear from speakers from our member organisations including Christian Aid, Islamic Relief Worldwide and Tearfund who will share details about their work in the region supported by HEF, and we will hear a special message from Angus Robertson MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Constitution, External Affairs and Culture. There will be plenty of opportunity for Q&A and discussion.
