A message from the Scottish Government International Development team:
Following the review of our approach to international development in 2020/21, announced by then Minister in March 2021, we have been in a transition period, as we: bring most of our existing projects and programmes to their natural close; and design new programming to take effect from 2023, which will be in line with the outcomes of our 2021 review Coronavirus (COVID-19): review of international development programme – International development – gov.scot (www.gov.scot)
We recently ran a series of focus groups as we were designing one strand (Global Citizenship funding for smaller NGOs) of our new Programming for 2023+. That new funding is just one of the funding streams that we’ll be putting out to tender over the coming months, along with other Funds such as our new Women and Girls Empowerment Fund, and our sectoral funding rounds in areas such as health and education.
What we now want to do is to share with you the overall shaping of our Programme that will take effect from 2023+, to explain our ethos/approach to all our funding, and what tenders to expect over the next few months. We’ll therefore be running a set of 3 online events, on 7th, 10th and 14th October during with the aim to update stakeholders on our overall approach, and explain next steps.
These online events will be led by the SG International Development Team, with a presentation to provide an update on overall future shape of our Programme for 2023+, and next steps, including in terms of funding opportunities. There will be space for participants to ask questions. Sessions are as follows, pls book online, and we’ll share the link to each meeting nearer the time:
Friday 7 October: 11:00-12:15 UK time / 12:00-13:15 African partner countries: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/429702219907
Monday 10 October: 13:00-14:15 UK time / 14:00 -15:15 African partner countries: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/429743202487
Friday 14 October: 09:00-10:15 UK time / 08:00-09:15 African partner countries: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/429747986797
Please note that:
All 3 sessions are the exact same, just being run several times on different days to maximise opportunities for people to be able to attend – so please only sign up to one of the days. we have already presented to our core funded bodies on these slides If you have a particular interest in Climate Justice, pls note that one of our CJ colleagues will be with us on Friday 7th and Friday 14th, but not on Monday 10th (due to the upcoming Loss and Damage Conference those days).
Please pass this email on to your Global South partners and other contacts in Malawi/Zambia/Rwanda. These sessions are aimed at a wide audience who have an interest in our programme, and future funding streams. We’re particularly keen to reach into organisations in our partner countries themselves, especially smaller CSOs given our new (direct) funding that will be coming on stream for small CSOs in Malawi/Zambia/Rwanda.
