NGOs and development organisations face a wide range of legal challenges, from navigating complex regulatory environments to structuring partnerships and safeguarding operations. At the same time, the legal sector’s pro bono culture has evolved significantly, with law firms increasingly offering their expertise to support mission-driven organisations like yours.
Join us and Advocates for International Development (A4ID) for an informative session on how your organisation can access free, high-quality legal support to overcome challenges, design impactful strategies, and achieve your long-term vision. We’ll explore:
- How pro bono legal culture has expanded to include support for NGOs and development organisations
- How to access pro bono legal support through A4ID’s brokerage service
- How our in-house project scoping can help match you with the right expertise
- Real-world case studies of NGOs we’ve helped to survive, thrive, and maximise their impact
- How legal support can help your organisation in a time of funding challenges and uncertainty
- How legal support can be a strategic tool, not just a safety net
There will be space for questions and discussion, so bring your challenges and ideas. Whether you’re scaling operations, entering new jurisdictions, or refining your governance, this webinar will show you how legal support can be a catalyst for change.
About the facilitator:
Tom Carmichael has eight years of experience working in the international development and humanitarian sectors. He began with the grassroots nonprofit Acting For Change International in Jordan, focusing on education in emergencies. He later joined Nonviolent Peaceforce, working in Iraq, South Sudan, and Ukraine to support civil society organisations involved in peacebuilding, civilian protection, and emergency response. Across these contexts, he has helped CSOs and NGOs strengthen their capacity to navigate complex operational challenges and enhance their strategic impact. With A4ID, Tom now works with his colleagues in the Pro Bono Legal Services Team to broker high-quality legal support for a wide range of CSOs and NGOs.
