DSA Scotland will convene on the 3 July. Those who are new to DSA but would like to find out more are welcome to join. The meeting will take place at the University of Glasgow’s Advanced Research Centre (ARC).

Decolonising Aid and Development – 10.30 am to 12.30 pm

  • Professor Pamela Abbott – University of Aberdeen – Decolonising Research (fuller title to be confirmed)
  • Dr Michael Tribe – University of Glasgow – Decolonising Aid – What Does it Mean and How to Do It?
  • Dr Mozammel Huq – University of Strathclyde – Dealing With Aid Donors – Recipient Experience

Lunch and networking – 12.30 pm – 1.30 pm

Presentations by established researchers – 1.30 pm to 3.00 pm

  • Prabir Bhattacharya – Heriot-Watt University – Technological Innovations and the Emergence of Modern Economic Growth: An Historical Perspective
  • Graeme Young – University of Glasgow – Informality: The New Global Class Politics?

Presentations by Doctoral Research Students – 3.15 pm to 4.45 pm

  • Parul Tyagi – Heriot-Watt University – The impact of female political representation on child malnutrition

After 4.45 pm there will be tea/coffee/biscuits available and it is hoped that discussions during the day about the convenorship and management of the DSA Scotland Study Group can be taken forward.
