The Scottish Parliament’s CPG on International Development met on Tuesday 29th April at 6:00pm to discuss current emergency & humanitarian situations.
Guest speakers were:
- Tufail Hussain, CEO of Islamic Relief who provided an update on the situation in Sudan
- Othman Moqbel, CEO of Action for Humanity who offered a perspective on the situation in Gaza
- Tom Griffiths, Regional Director for Europe and America at the Halo Trust who outlined their work in Ukraine. Tom’s presentation can be found here.
- Huw Owen from the Disasters Emergency Committee in Scotland, and Dr Unni Krishnan, Global Humanitarian Director for Plan International, who spoke ongoing responses to the earthquake in Myanmar. A special video produced for the meeting by the British Red Cross can be found here.
The Group met in person in Committee Room 5 in the Scottish Parliament, with a number of speakers and participants joining online.
