AI is becoming increasingly popular in the global sustainable development sector, with many organisations implementing its use in their day to day work to improve efficiency, outputs and to support the core activities of the organisation. However, with so many concerns and questions about AI, the ethics, security, tools and more, where do you begin to understand AI and its role in your organisation, if there is one?
We’ll be joined by AI4NGO who are bringing us a three-part series on AI, ‘AI in Action – a workshop series for international development professionals’, to help you incorporate a thoughtful approach to AI use in your organisations.
In this first session, we’ll ask: What can AI actually do for your work and how do you get it to do it well? This hands-on session covers the essentials: how AI tools work, how to write effective prompts, and where AI could add value in international development.
This session will address:
- Overview of Al: Evolution of Al, its significance in today’s world
- Language Models: How they work, and their capabilities
- Understanding Prompts: Explanation of what prompts are and their role in interacting with Al
- Crafting Effective Prompts: Hands-on exercises to practice writing clear and effective prompts
- Overview of Al Tools: Which tasks can AI really help with – and which are just hype
